Native Speaker Series – Arlinda Locklear
Attorney Arlinda F. Locklear will speak at UNC Pembroke on Feb. 12 as part of the UNCP American Indian Studies Department’s Native Speaker Series.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Moore Hall Auditorium, located at 19 PSU Court on the UNCP campus.
Locklear, a member of the Lumbee Tribe, is a nationally known attorney and advocate for Native American tribes. She has practiced federal Indian law for her entire career and represented the Lumbee Tribe in its fight for full federal recognition for more than 40 years.
Locklear will discuss the Lumbee Tribe’s federal recognition and what comes next for the Tribe. This event is open to all who would like to attend.
